Superpower: She does not try to be better than others, but always strives to surpass herself yesterday. Svitlana makes educational trips to Sweden, participates in teaching (non) conferences, and develops author’s training on integrated leadership. During lessons she not only discusses revolutions and the civil law code, but also conducts make-up workshops with students, learns how to make Japanese rolls and edits in Photoshop.
21st Century Teacher: Who are they in a nutshell?
They do not stand still, but learn from their students.
What skills do Alpha generation students need? Developed emotional intelligence, critical thinking and financial literacy. Svitlana uses ICT in her lessons, together with students she prepares presentations in SparkL and Prezzi, creates video trailers and atlases of professions of the future. The finalist is not afraid of change and believes that what can be imagined can be realized.
Professional dream: To popularize the teaching profession, to change public opinion about teachers. Svitlana is convinced that the source of the improvements is not the new regulations, but the school staff themselves. To be an example of change, the finalist shares her experience with colleagues in workshops, promotes teacher synergies, and writes letters to the Ministry of Education and Science, because she knows that persistent people will be heard.
Source of inspiration: The unpredictability of the teaching profession. Every day, Svitlana feels like a surfer who has to catch a wave, and during exams and competitions feels like a designer, because you need to sew couture from “polyethylene”. She adores crazy pace.
