The assessment center

Проведення асесмент центру

The purpose of this stage is to choose the winner from the best 10 teachers. In order to get acquainted with the participants and see them “in action”, Osvitoria asks each finalist to write an essay on a selected topic and organizes a field team assessment center. Finalists from all over the country gather in Verkholy (Poltava region) and work in a team for 3 days. The expert jury evaluates the teachers’ performance and selects the winner.

During the 3-day assessment center, participants:

  • make individual acquaintances and self-presentations;
  • attend interesting workshops on current educational topics;
  • solve cases and participate in quests;
  • develop joint projects;
  • participate in exchange of experience and networking;
  • attentd business breakfasts with famous and successful Ukrainians

All members of the jury are instructed on the following issues:

– confidentiality / non-disclosure of information on how they assess the participants before the vote which determines a winner

– preventing the influence of other members of the jury

– impartiality and objectivity in evaluation

– competition evaluation rules and selection criteria

As the award’s mission is to raise the prestige of the profession, as well as to find teachers who are the drivers of change, who dream, inspire and make a change, who teacher their students to be global citizens, who can think critically, go beyond the standard procedures, interact effectively and be creative, the jury will pay special attention to things like:

  • impact on the community in which the teacher lives (socially important activities outside the school);
  • innovativeness;
  • ability to work in a team;
  • creativity;
  • notable student achievements (not only academic);
  • influence on the development and popularization of the profession.
  • desire to reform education not only at the local but also at the national and global levels.

Each member of the jury has 20 points, which they distribute among the top 10 teachers at their own discretion, but the maximum number of points a member of the jury can give to one participant is 6 points to ensure an equal value of points for each member of the jury and give equal chances to all finalists.

The teacher with the highest score automatically wins the Award, but the name is not announced to anyone (including the jury) until the award ceremony on October 2.

The counting of votes of the jury members is carried out by 2 people, representatives of NGO “Osvitoria”. Based on the results of the calculation, a protocol is formed and approved by the project manager responsible for the award.

The prize in the amount of UAH 250,000 (net) is transferred to the winner within 45 working days from the moment of victory.

Deloitte monitors compliance with the methodology and ensures the transparency of the voting process.
